The Filipinos need jobs and we need it now more than ever. As of the time of this writing there are around 200,000 jobs available in the government sector. This does not include the unlisted jobs that small to medium business owners that are not visible online.
During the COVID pandemic, people have relied not only on the help on Overseas Filipino Workers and remote jobs but also from government aid, called “Ayuda”. These ranges from the basic necessities such as food to cash assistance. These come in various form, like 4Ps, which is the national poverty reduction strategy launched in 2008 aimed for the needy.
While the intention for these ayuda was good, and now that the pandemic is over. We need to stop solely relying on these assistance. These only provide temporary or band-aid solution to provide sustenance in order to survive. What we really need is to make a consistent way to earn, a livelihood. This is where jobs come in.
As we said, there are a lot of jobs available, and as long as there is work to be done, so will there be opportunity to find work. For example, DOLE, just recently provided livelihood projects to Sorsogon.
Filipinos are naturally hard workers. But some might be inclined now to work less and become picky with the work they choose. While there are a lot of hard working filipinos working abroad for their families. The availability of jobs in the Philippines is plenty and will probably never run out. We should learn to take jobs without just factoring in the salary, which is still an important factor nonetheless.
The Filipinos are resilient can endure difficult situations . The Philippines, being vulnerable to natural disasters, is prone to typhoons and earthquakes due to is geographic location. We should keep this mindset also when carrying our tasks as well. We should not be onion skin if the work is not going in our way.
Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.
Relying solely in assistance, whether it’s from the government, family and relatives should never become the permanent solution. Find a job or livelihood will not only give you a more consistent way of living, but a satisfaction of gaining something through hard earned labor.
